AFRI4CAst will participate in the upcoming HAICTA 2024 and the 11th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ICT IN AGRICULTURE, FOOD & ENVIRONMENT that will take place on October 17-20, in Samos Greece with a publication entitled “Development of Rust disease prediction models with the use of satellite derived vegetation indices from wheat and maize parcels in Kenya and Uganda”.
AFRI4CAst explores the development of predictive models for rust disease in wheat and maize, using satellite-derived vegetation indices. Rust disease is a major threat to crop production in Africa, causing significant economic losses for smallholder farmers. Through this work, AFRI4CAst offers a scalable and cost-effective solution, enabling early detection of rust infections across large agricultural areas. By identifying rust early, farmers can take proactive measures to protect crops and improve food security. The study showcases promising results that could help transform disease management practices in African agriculture.
