Afri4Cast at EC-ESA Joint Earth System Science Initiative

The EC-ESA Joint Earth System Science Initiative was organized last week in Italy with a special focus on showcasing the latest ESA – EC projects and initiatives as a basis for networking and interdisciplinary science!

Stelios Kotsopoulos, of AgroApps joined the event to present the Afri4Cast project and more specifically the modeling platform to analyze climate change impact on agriculture and especially on cereals.  Mycotoxin contamination in cereals pose a serious human health issue, while rust disease threatens cereals production, throughout the African continent. Climate change will affect the prevalence of fungal species that can infect cereal crops, associated plant diseases and mycotoxin contamination.
